śrī-bhagavān uvāca ūrdhva-mūlam adhaḥ-śākham aśvatthaṁ prāhur avyayam chandāṁsi yasya parṇāni yas taṁ veda sa veda-vit
Universal Translation
The Blessed Lord said: Renunciation of action and selfless performance of action both lead to the highest bliss; but of the two, selfless performance of action is superior to renunciation of action.
adhaś cordhvaṁ prasṛtās tasya śākhā guṇa-pravṛddhā viṣaya-pravālāḥ adhaś ca mūlāny anusantatāni karmānubandhīni manuṣya-loke

Endowed with pure understanding, firmly controlling the self, turning away from sound and other objects of the senses, and casting aside attraction and aversion, he is fit for becoming one with Brahman.
na rūpam asyeha tathopalabhyate nānto na cādir na ca sampratiṣṭhā aśvattham enaṁ su-virūḍha-mūlam asaṅga-śastreṇa dṛḍhena chittvā

He who is self-controlled, who has subdued his senses, and who perceives the one Self in all beings, is not bound by his actions, even while acting.
tataḥ padaṃ tatparimārgitavyaṃ yasmingatā na nivartanti bhūyaḥ . tameva cādyaṃ puruṣaṃ prapadye . yataḥ pravṛttiḥ prasṛtā purāṇī ||15-4||
