oṃ pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidaṃ pūrṇāt pūrṇamudacyate | pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya pūrṇamevāvaśiष्यte || oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ||
Universal Translation
Om. That is whole, this is whole; from the whole, the whole becomes manifest. Taking the whole from the whole, the whole remains.
īśāvāsyamidaṃ sarvaṃ yatkiñca jagatyāṃ jagat | tena tyaktena bhuñjīthā mā gṛdhaḥ kasyasviddhanam || 1 ||
Universal Translation
All this, whatever moves in the world, should be enveloped by God. Enjoy by renunciation. Covet not any more wealth.
kurvanneveha karmāṇi jijīviṣecchataṃ samāḥ | evaṃ tvayi nānyatheto'sti na karma lipyate nare || 2 ||
Universal Translation
Performing karma in this world, one should wish to live a hundred years. Thus it is right for you and not otherwise; karma does not cling to man.
asuryā nāma te lokā andhena tamasāvṛtāḥ | tāṃste pretyābhigacchanti ye ke cātmahano janāḥ || 3 ||
Universal Translation
Those worlds of the asuras are enveloped in blind darkness. Those people who kill their Atman go to them after death.
anejadekaṃ manaso javīyo nainaddevā āpnuvan pūrvamarṣat | taddhāvato'nyānatyeti tiṣṭhattasminnapo mātariśvā dadhāti || 4 ||
Universal Translation
The Atman is motionless, one, and swifter than the mind. The devas could not overtake it as it ran before them. Sitting, it passes others who run. In it, Matarisvan (the wind) bestows the actions of beings.
tadejati tannaijati taddūre tadvantike | tadantarasya sarvasya tadu sarvasyāsya bāhyataḥ || 5 ||

It moves, and it moves not. It is far, and it is near. It is within all this, and it is outside all this.
yastu sarvāṇi bhūtānyātmanyevānupaśyati | sarvabhūteṣu cātmānaṃ tato na vijugupsate || 6 ||

He who sees all beings in the Atman, and the Atman in all beings, does not feel any revulsion by reason of such a view.
yasminsarvāṇi bhūtānyātmaivābhūdvijānataḥ | tatra ko mohaḥ kaḥ śoka ekatvamanupaśyataḥ || 7 ||

When, to the knower, all beings have become one with his own self (Atman), what delusion and what sorrow can there be for him who has once seen that unity?
sa paryagācchukramakāyamavraṇamasnāviraṃ śuddhamapāpaviddham | kavirmanīṣī paribhūḥ svayambhūryāthātathyato'rthānvyadadhācchāśvatībhyaḥ samābhyaḥ || 8 ||

He has filled all; he is radiant, bodiless, invulnerable, devoid of sinews, pure, untouched by evil. He, the Seer, the Thinker, the All-pervading, the Self-existent, has assigned to each its respective duties for eternal years.
andhaṃ tamaḥ praviśanti ye'vidyāmupāsate | tato bhūya iva te tamo ya u vidyāyāṃ ratāḥ || 9 ||

All who worship what is not real knowledge (good works), enter into blind darkness: those who delight in real knowledge, enter, as it were, into greater darkness.
anyadevāhurvidyayā'nyadāhuravidyayā | iti śuśruma dhīrāṇāṃ ye nastadvicacakṣire || 10 ||
Universal Translation
One thing, they say, is obtained from real knowledge; another, they say, from what is not knowledge. Thus we have heard from the wise who taught us this.
vidyāṃ cāvidyāṃ ca yastadvedobhayaṃ saha | avidyayā mṛtyuṃ tīrtvā vidyayāmṛtamaśnute || 11 ||

He who knows at the same time both knowledge and not-knowledge, overcomes death through not-knowledge, and obtains immortality through knowledge.

All who worship what is not the true cause, enter into blind darkness: those who delight in the true cause, enter, as it were, into greater darkness.

hiraṇmayena pātreṇa satyasyāpihitaṃ mukham | tattvaṃ pūṣannapāvṛṇu satyadharmāya dṛṣṭaye || 15 ||

The door of the True is covered with a golden disk. Open it, O Pûshan, that we may see the nature of the True.
pūṣannekarṣe yama sūrya prājāpatya vyūha raśmīnsamūha | tejo yatte rūpaṃ kalyāṇatamaṃ tatte paśyāmi yo'sāvasau puruṣaḥ so'hamasmi || 16 ||

O Pûshan, only seer, O Yama (judge), O Surya (sun), O son of Pragâpati, spread thy rays and gather them! I see thy brilliant form; it is I who am yonder (in the sun).
vāyuranilamamṛtamathedaṃ bhasmāntaṃ शरीरम् | oṃ krato smara kṛtaṃ smara krato smara kṛtaṃ smara || 17 ||

May my breath (prâna) return to the immortal Air (vâyu), and this my body end in ashes (bhasmântam)! Om! Mind, remember! Remember thy deeds! Mind, remember! Remember thy deeds!
agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān | yuyodhyasmajjuhurāṇameno bhūyiṣṭhāṃ te namauktiṃ vidhema || 18 ||
Universal Translation
O Agni, lead us by the good path to wealth (liberation), O God who knowest all our deeds. Remove from us the deceitful sin. We offer thee the best salutations.
